Low-Smoke, Halogen-Free Eco-Friendly Cables: Meeting Dual Standards for Safety and Environmental Protection
Due to the inherent properties of their materials and construction, traditional cables burn rapidly when exposed to open flames, generating copious amounts of black smoke. This smoke not only severely reduces visibility—hindering people from locating safe exits during emergency evacuations—but also poses a grave threat to the respiratory system when inhaled, potentially leading to asphyxiation and death. Furthermore, the combustion process releases corrosive halogen acid gases (such as hydrogen chloride) that combine with atmospheric water vapor to form acid mist; this mist not only causes intense irritation and corrosive damage to human respiratory tracts and eyes but also severely damages surrounding electronic equipment and metal structures, thereby complicating post-fire rescue and restoration efforts. It was in response to these "fatal flaws" of traditional cables that eco-friendly, low-smoke, zero-halogen cables were developed.

Low-smoke, zero-halogen (LSZH) eco-friendly cables are a type of wire and cable characterized by minimal smoke generation during combustion, the absence of halogens (such as chlorine and bromine) in their constituent materials, and low corrosivity of their combustion products. A key advantage of these cables is their eco-friendly and non-toxic nature. Unlike traditional cables, they do not release toxic gases—such as hydrogen chloride—when burning. Materials like PVC found in traditional cables produce large amounts of dense, halogen-containing toxic smoke during combustion; these gases not only cause severe damage to human respiratory and nervous systems but also contribute to environmental hazards like acid rain. In contrast, because LSZH cables contain no halogens, their combustion yields primarily harmless substances such as water vapor and small amounts of carbon dioxide. This minimizes harm to the environment and human health, significantly reducing the risk of "secondary injury" during a fire. LSZH cables play a particularly vital role in densely populated public spaces—such as subways, airports, hospitals, schools, and shopping malls—where high foot traffic means that the consequences of a fire could be catastrophic.

Low-smoke, zero-halogen, eco-friendly cables play a vital role in a wide range of settings—including home renovations, public spaces, and industrial sectors—thanks to their significant advantages: they are environmentally friendly and non-toxic, offer low-smoke and flame-retardant properties, and boast long service lives and high-temperature resistance. These cables not only represent a technological breakthrough in the industry but also serve as an excellent choice for those pursuing a greener, safer lifestyle.
